21st Century Counterculturalism

This blog is intended to serve as a tool I can use to share my thoughts with anyone interested. Philosophy will be the main subject of every post.

Being countercultural today involves being severely principled. You are not a serious person if you’re not principled, and your thoughts will not be interesting. I respect hardline intellectual adversaries more than someone unprincipled.

Counterculture today is being Catholic in your heart, mind and will. Being a member of another religion will make you somewhat countercultural, but since Catholicism is the true religion, it is also the true counterculture. 

Additionally, being countercultural is being a Thomist (and therefore a realist). Today, your average agnostic (philosophical and religious) will bounce around between Humean and skeptic one liners to avoid being pinned down in a contradiction in their thought. To be a Humean is easier than confronting reality if you aren’t acting in accord with reality. 

Being countercultural is hating cognitive dissonance (which is the choice drug today). 

I don't care if you think this is lame, or if you think I don't have anything original to say. True intellectual discourse needs to continue, and this is my part in that.
